Unravelling the gibberellin signalling network

The Centre for Plant Integrative Biology (CPIB) aims to develop multiscale models of hormone-regulated root growth and development.

The hormone gibberellin (GA) regulates root elongation in / Arabidopsis/. Gibberellin functions in part by targeting DELLA growth regulatory proteins for degradation via SCF^SLY1 mediated ubiquitination. We have developed a mathematical model of a plant cell’s response to a GA stimulus. This describes the dynamics of the GA biosynthesis and perception pathways. The model is found to be in good agreement with several gene-expression time-series data sets, taken from mutant and wild-type GA treated roots. I will also discuss a model that describes a coupling between the gene network and cell growth, which allows us to understand how changes at the molecular scale determine the tissue-scale phenotype.
