Head of the Core Facility Genomics

The „Zentrum für Biosystemanalyse ZBSA“ (Centre for Systems Biology) is an interdisciplinary research center at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg (Germany). Together with several large collaborative research projects, the ZBSA has established a research focus in systems biology. The ZBSA now advertises the following position:

 

Head of the Core Facility Genomics
 
Fulltime position, start date: immediately

 

Candidates are expected to have in depth knowledge and extensive practical experience in the areas of transcriptome, genome, and epigenome analysis. The ideal candidate is interested in generation of high quality genomics data for systems biology projects using state of the art technologies, but also in genome oriented human genetics ranging from mapping projects to cancer genome analysis. Candidates should have experience in modern genome analysis technologies including Next-Generation-Sequencing, and should be able to establish novel technologies in Freiburg. They should have experience in bioinformatics and statistics, and should be able to interact efficiently with computational biologists when dealing with large data-rich projects.

The core facility genomics is located in the new ZBSA building and equipped with state of the art instrumentation ranging from the Agilent microarray platform to Illumina GA Next Generation sequencing and genotyping with the Illumina Bead Station. The new head of the facility should also promote the acquisition of new equipment by contributing to program project and collaborative grants funding equipment. The core facility genomics will interact with other research groups of the ZBSA by performing services in the area of genomics, but should in parallel also establish new technologies.

The initial appointment will be for five years. Remuneration will be according to E13/E14 scale. Please find additional information at www.zbsa.de.
